The realisation that colour has influence over the human mind dates back deep within history. What is difficult is to separate out the fact from the fiction. Colours have many meanings to people mostly based on their culture, religion or mood/emotions.
Colour is extremely powerful as within seconds, just like sound, can transform ones mood, by uplifting our spirits.
The impact colour has on us is strictly down to how that individual interprets colour and their meaning they associate to it.
For example; it is common for people to say or believe that we see “red” when were angry, and red inspires us to action.
When we feel sad or upset we naturally refer to the colour “blue”. Yellow is classic warning colour as it is bright, bold and used for many signs around, just like red.
Green slows us down both mentally and physically.
Culture and Colour
Some uses of colour are culturally specific.
The impact and influence In the West is that, the colour of mourning and death is usually black; However, in many Asian cultures, white is associated with death, mourning, and funerals.
In China, red signifies good luck, happiness, and prosperity. In India, red is associated with purity, fertility, and marriage.
In Western cultures, white is often associated with purity, innocence, and peace.
In African Culture, Black represents the people of the spiritual world, White symbolizing purity, Red for passion and power, Yellow for fertility and hope, and Green representing land and agriculture.
Over generations they used this colour pattern which gradually grew into a system of 5 colours and is still widely used to date
Different cultures divide up colours in ways that seem odd or counterintuitive to others. They may group hues together because they are perceived as gendered—or some other way of sorting the world. They may put more emphasis on saturation or brightness over hue.
For example; In the UK Pink is chosen as the colour for a baby girl and it is common that gifts of pink clothing or plush toys are purchased to congratulate the new arrival. The same principal is followed for a Boy, but their chosen colour is Blue.
Age groups, and location also play apart on how society perceives colour. The younger generation now days are more flexible in their ideations, identity and fashion concepts. However, the older generation were and are more strict with how colour was/is perceived. Many still associate Pink to be only a colour for girls and if a man was to wear pink they would be frowned upon, laughed at or even bullied and called gay. Although, should a female wear blue or any other colour, it was deemed not a problem.
The fundamental meanings of colours have been present in the wisdom of all cultures, but somewhat confusing and occasionally misinterpreted, but with the research of today’s practitioners of biology, biochemistry, and physics, we can sort truth from fiction based on extensive research in both the history and tradition of talismans (such as the evil eye) and the more modern human psychological studies of the fundamental effects of colour on human bodies and minds, also including the connection of the natural effects of gemstone, crystal and mineral colour influence and their energetic rays.
Researchers still continue to this day with their great work to investigate and unpack facts from fiction relating to the above and more!
Using Colour To Uplift Your Mood or Motivate You
The best thing about Colour Therapy, is that there are no specific rules as such, only guidance on how certain colours are used to assist us emotionally, and other. Just like when practising with Crystal Healing and using the stones to assist us with their positive attributes. Obviously there are colours and Crystals for certain purposes, but that doesn't always mean they are right for you!
At Amore Designs, when working with clients and helping them choose the right colour and gemstones, I always say "allow to be guided by the stones, and listen to how they make you feel!" These are generally the crystals that are needed and being naturally being attracted.
Great Talismanic Colour Wheel of Influence.
This Great Wheel of Life shows the entire year and the entire colour spectrum as they naturally flow - bringing you the knowledge of your place and time.
On the Great Wheel the colours flow from the dark indigos and blues of the winter sky through the promise of spring in the melting turquoise waters of the brooks and lakes as they are freed of ice.
The colours then naturally change to the greens of spring, to the bright yellows of the warm summer sun. The colours naturally start to darken, first to the oranges and deep reds of the autumn leaves then further as the Earth moves into winter, more into the amethysts, violets, and indigos of the now barren landscapes devoid of most plants, but still vibrant with the natural earth tones of the minerals and rocks.
Your True, Natural Birthstone
The natural colour wheel shows the progression of life and colour on the planet earth. In contrast to astrological signs and other birthstone lists, the colour wheel shows us the colour of our birth time on earth.
The second ring of the wheel indicates the time associated with the colours. The wheel actually is read in counter-clockwise order. Start from the winter solstice at the top and follow the colour wheel and the year around to the left. The second inner ring shows the days of the year as the year and the colour changes progress through the greens of spring, the yellows of summer, and the reds of autumn.
Not only is the Talismanic Colour Wheel of Influence a depiction of the natural order of life through the year, it is also a depiction of the natural order of human life. The year starts as the days become longer at the Winter Equinox.
Our lives start at birth.
Our lives swing around the same wheel. We evolve as the universe does.
Everything is colour, frequency and connection!
The Talismanic Colour Wheel of Influence shows us the dual nature of colour and influence. It shows us that our cycles as people are aligned with the natural cycles of nature and so forth.
We are all products of mother nature, right!
What's your thoughts on this topic? Id be interested to know! also... If I was to ask you what the colour Green represents to you, what would you say?! I'm intrigued.
